28th june Sunday Clubrun.

Even better than last week - only three of us set off on the club run this week!

I arrived at the Rising Sun bang on 9am, only to be told by the South Manchester that "two of your lot have just left".  Leighton arrived, so we waited while he mopped himself down and then covered himself in sun cream (ever the optimist) and then he, Rob and I set off through Bollington, up Kerridge, up the Cat, down Wildboarclough and up past the Eagle and Child.  Leighton and I carried on while Rob went down to Gradbach Mill to check out the new tea rooms down there.  The Abbotsford caught me up just at the double bends heading up to Tisha's, and somehow I ended up on the front of their group of 15 until we reached Tisha's where I stopped to wait for Leighton.  We had lunch there as it was already 11.30am.  There was a group of Morgan three wheeled cars there, very beautiful vehicles, not terribly practical but who cares.

After lunch we went over the Roaches, down to Meerbrook and over to Rudyard, then up the long slog to go round the Cloud and down to North Rode. Leighton headed north west homewards and Rob, fearing I might make him do some tidying up if we got home early, suggested we head up into Macc Forrest to the visitor centre for a cup of tea.  Never one to refuse a cuppa, off we went, arriving shortly after a 45min torrential downpour had finished.  The roads were awash and the midges were out in force.  Back down through Langley and the back way through Macc, up towards Rainow and back home through Bollington where the heavens opened and we arrived home very wet and gritty.

All this enjoyment comes free of charge, you just have to turn up.

Next week we climb the heights of Holme Moss (at varying speeds), visit the windmills above Crow Edge and lunch in Langsett. Home over Strines, or for the faint at heart over Woodhead.  Mountain goats meet at the Rising Sun at 9am, ordinary goats leaving the café in Glossop at 10am.
