The Shire Horse Centre, Cotebrook
The Shire horse centre cafe is situated just beyond Oulton park at Cotebrook and is a great alternative for a shorter ride than Delamere. This is a new cafe for me so i was quite happy to check it out with the Chelford Chicks. We found plenty of space for our bikes within view of the seating area. The menu doesn`t show the traditional beans on toast but the staff were more than happy to provide it on request. Posh bacon butties were good the only gripe being they didn`t have enough bacon for all the orders. Large pots of tea were warmly welcomed on a chilly winters day. The cakes looked really good however Sue Rowson had decided to treat us all to rocky road and millionaires shortbread which were both very good, and a great way to celebrate a birthday. There is loads of other stuff to do at the centre although i wasn`t to impressed with been told that i am now the proud owner of a black piglet kindly adopted on my behalf by sister Terrie. Luckily for the piglet it didn`t fit in by panniers, lucky escape for the piglet although i`m sure it would have made an interesting mascot for Wills Wheels. I`m looking forward to going in the summer as there was a large sheltered terrace overlooking a duck pond that looked very inviting, the terrace not the duck pond.
